DKNY A/W 09

Donna Karan's DKNY autumn/winter 2009 collection saw lots of structured, tailored pieces with below the knee pencil skirts and nipped in waists.

There was a 1950's feel to the designs which Donna described as polished and pulled together. These were certainly investment pieces that can be worn year after year, in keeping with the economic climate.

Red, black and grey shades dominated the colour palette while the outfits were all about power dressing and cozy knits.

It wasn't all block colour though, animal print, tartan and tweed coats and dresses paraded down the runway.

There was a lot of draped fabric on dresses and skirts and Donna turned the trend for shoulder detail on it's head, instead going for bare shoulders as dress straps sat just below them.

The overall look was very work womanlike and not as young as we would expect from DKNY but it worked and provided some sexy yet classic looks.
